Πριν ξεκινήσουμε την παρουσίαση μας , θα ήθελα να απευθύνω στους αναγνώστες μας μία ερώτηση : Σε ποιους αρέσουν οι διασκευές ; Ακριβώς , σε όλους !!! Ας δούμε λοιπόν 5 τραγούδια της rock σκηνής , άλλα γνωστά , άλλα κρυφά διαμάντια , να δέχονται , ας μου επιτραπεί η έκφραση , ένα metal makeover !!!
Stone Sour feat Lzzy Hale - Gimme Shelter ( The Rolling Stones , Let It Bleed , 1969 )
Αν και δύσκολα θα χαρακτήριζες τους Stone Sour ένα metal συγκρότημα , τολμώ να πω πως ο Corey Taylor και η Lzzy Hale αποτελούν δύο από τις πιο metal προσωπικότητες του χώρου , με την φωνή τους και την live persona τους να αποτελούν τα πειστήρια ! Παρ 'όλα αυτά , δεν το παράκαναν κι έδωσαν στο Gimme Shelter μία μικρή "αγριάδα" , διατηρώντας την διασκευή αρκετά πιστή στην αυθεντική μορφή του . Πώς γίνεται άλλωστε να μην το κάνεις , όταν είναι τόσο μοναδικό αλλά και ριζοσπαστικό , από μόνο του ; Ας μην ξεχνάμε , το Metal δεν έχει να κάνει μόνο με την ένταση και την ταχύτητα , αλλά και με το πόσο "έξω από τα νερά σου " μπορείς να βρεθείς !
Mastodon - Stairway To Heaven ( Led Zeppelin , Led Zeppelin IV , 1971 )
Μιλώντας για ριζοσπαστικά και μοναδικά τραγούδια , δεν θα μπορούσαμε να παραλείψουμε αυτό το υπέροχο άσμα των τιτάνων Led Zeppelin , που καθόρισε την πορεία της rock και metal μουσικής και άλλαξε την ζωή όποιου το άκουσε , από την πρώτη κιόλας ακρόαση ! Ο τρόπος που οι Mastodon διαχειρίστηκαν ένα τόσο γνωστό κι απαιτητικό κομμάτι τους δικαίωσε γι' άλλη μία φορά , καθώς σεβάστηκαν την "δύναμη" του , αλλά δε δείλιασαν να βάλουν τις χαρακτηριστικές τους πινελιές ! Η διασκευή αυτή όμως δεν αποτελεί φόρο τιμής μόνο στο συγκρότημα , αλλά και σε ένα σημαντικό μέλος της οικογένειας των Mastodon , τον manager τους Nick John , ο οποίος απεβίωσε τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2018 και , πέρα από την αδυναμία που είχε στους ίδιους και στους Gojira , αγαπούσε τους Led Zeppelin !
Anthrax - Carry On Wayward Son ( Kansas , Leftoverture , 1976 )
Αν και η μεγαλύτερη επιτυχία των Kansas υπήρξε το Dust In The Wind , το Carry On Wayward Son δεν είχε τίποτα να ζηλέψει από αυτό , καθώς μουσικά ήταν ήδη σε άλλο επίπεδο , ενώ αποτέλεσε και παράδειγμα προς μίμηση για κάθε υποψήφιο rock ή metal μουσικό . Οι αξιαγάπητοι και πάντα φιλικά προσκείμενοι σε πειραματισμούς Anthrax έδωσαν την ταχύτητα και την εκρηκτικότητά τους σε ένα τραγούδι που εξ' αρχής είχε πιο hard rock στοιχεία , αλλά και τα δικά τους "αναγνωριστικά" , όπως το μοναδικό κι ιδιαίτερο στυλ παιξίματος του drummer Charlie Benante αλλά και οι πιο thrash κιθάρες του ντουέτου Ian-Donnais ! Δεν θα έπρεπε βέβαια να περάσουν απαρατήρητες οι καλλιτεχνικές πινελιές στο εξώφυλλο της διασκευής , με τον ελαφρώς αλλαγμένο τίτλο , την ηλεκτρική κιθάρα και την εμφάνιση της διαχρονικής μασκότ του συγκροτήματος , τον NOT Man !
Pantera - Cat Scratch Fever ( Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever , 1977 )
Ίσως από τις πιο μισητές ( ή και αγαπητές ) μουσικές φυσιογνωμίες , ο Ted Nugent μπορεί , λόγω των πολιτικών και κοινωνικών του πεποιθήσεων , να βρίσκεται στη μαύρη λίστα πολλών ακροατών , αλλά η επιρροή του στην εξέλιξη της αμερικανικής hard rock σκηνής είναι εξίσου σημαντική με εκείνη των Aerosmith και πολλών άλλων . Αποτέλεσε όμως έμπνευση και για τους καλλιτέχνες του σκληρού ήχου , με τους Pantera να πρωταγωνιστούν στο groove metal , όπου το heavy metal ενώνεται με το hard rock . Ένα μικρό δείγμα αποτελεί και η διασκευή αυτή , που μεταπηδά από το ένα στο άλλο είδος , με τα extreme φωνητικά του Anselmo να ταιριάζουν γάντι , ενώ ο Dimebag ξεχωρίζει πάντα με τον μοναδικό ήχο της κιθάρας του !
Iron Maiden - Communication Breakdown ( Led Zeppelin , Led Zeppelin I , 1969 )
Ίσως και η λιγότερο αναμενόμενη διασκευή , για την οποία ελάχιστοι θα γνώριζαν κι ελάχιστοι θα είχαν την δυνατότητα να την ακούσουν , καθώς αποτέλεσε μέρος του single Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter το 1990 , αλλά συμπεριλήφθηκε επίσης και στο bonus disc που κυκλοφόρησε με την remaster έκδοση του No Prayer For The Dying , το 1995 ! Δεν θα έπρεπε να μας κάνει εντύπωση το ότι μία μπάντα σαν τους Maiden θα είχε κι αυτή επιρροές από άλλους πρωτοπόρους καλλιτέχνες , όπως οι εξίσου τεράστιοι Led Zeppelin , αλλά κι ότι δε θα δίσταζε να αφήσει την χροιά της να εμπλουτίσει ένα τόσο δυνατό , για τα δεδομένα του 1969 , τραγούδι . Μόνο η φωνή του Dickinson , αλλά και ο χαρακτηριστικός τόνος των κιθαριστών Murray και Gers , μπορούν να γίνουν αναγνωρίσιμες από τις πρώτες νότες , ακόμα και σε αυτό το τραγούδι , που δεν αποτελεί δική τους σύνθεση !

Οι Αθηναίοι death / thrash metallers RAPTURE, θα κυκλοφορήσουν στις 26 Μαρτίου 2021 το τρίτο τους άλμπουμ με τίτλο ''Malevolent Demise Incarnation''. Μετά το εξαιρετικό ''Paroxysm of Hatred'' που κυκλοφόρησε το 2018, η νέα τους δουλειά θα κυκλοφορήσει σε CD και βινύλιο από την FDA Records (μπορείτε να παραγγείλετε το άλμπουμ εδώ) και σε κασέτα(!) από την Headsplit Records.

Τι θα λέγατε να πηγαίναμε μια άμορφη βόλτα στους SACRED OUTCRY;
Μια μπάντα που μας έρχεται από το 1998 από την Αθήνα, έχοντας
μονάχα ένα άλμπουμ το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε στις 25 Σεπτέμβρη... Πηγαίνουμε λίγο
πίσω εκεί όπου θα βρούμε δυο ακόμα δουλείες της μπάντας.
Βασικά ο τίτλος έχει περισσότερο μία μεταφορική έννοια, προσωπικά για μένα (διότι κάθε άρθρο, αφιέρωμα, κ.ο.κ μόνο σαν μία προσωπική ιστορία μπορώ να σας το μεταφέρω), όσα χρόνια και να δηλώνει το δικό του μουσικό παρών ένα συγκρότημα στο οποίο τρέφω ιδιαίτερη αδυναμία, το άδοξο τέλος του μόνο θλίψη θα μπορέσει να μου προκαλέσει. Παρακάτω θα σας αναφέρω μερικά από αυτά τα συγκροτήματα, που εντυπωσίασαν, ξεσήκωσαν, λατρεύτηκαν, πρωτοτύπησαν και εν τέλει έβαλαν τέλος στην μουσική τους σταδιοδρομία.

Ο Χρήστος Αντωνίου των CHAOSTAR θα κυκλοφορήσει για πρώτη φορά σε βινύλιο το "Threnody" μέσω της "The Circle Music" στις 26 Μαρτίου 2021, σε αυστηρά περιορισμένη έκδοση 500 τεμαχίων ως double gatefold grimace purple colored LP.
Μία από τις μεγαλύτερες αδυναμίες μου στο progressive στερέωμα, ένα από τα πιο προοδευτικά συγκροτήματα που υπήρξαν, μουσικά, εκτελεστικά, με έμμεσο και άμεσο τρόπο πάνω στο θέμα της μουσικής νοοτροπίας, αλλά και στο τρόπο που σε αιχμαλώτιζαν μέσα από τις δισκογραφικές τους δουλειές, ήταν, είναι και θα παραμείνουν να αποτελούν οι αγαπημένοι μου Fragile Vastness.

Η σημερινή μας παρουσίαση αφορά έναν ιδιαίτερο , συναισθηματικό δίσκο , που αποτέλεσε το κύκνειο άσμα ενός συγκροτήματος που εξ' αρχής έδειξε την απαραίτητη δυναμική για να καταφέρει κάτι πολύ μεγάλο . Παρ' όλα αυτά , ένα άσχημο γεγονός τερμάτισε την πολλά υποσχόμενη καριέρα των Buffalo Fuzz , με το τελευταίο τους έργο να κυκλοφορεί αρκετά αργότερα...

Ο τραγουδιστής των DREAM THEATER, James LaBrie, ερμηνεύει a cappella το "Pull Me Under", το πρώτο single από το πρωτοποριακό άλμπουμ της μπάντας "Images And Words".
Σε μια νέα συνέντευξη με τον RadioactiveMike Z, οικοδεσπότης του ραδιοφωνικού προγράμματος 96,7 KCAL-FM "Wired In The Empire", έκανε την ερώτηση στον frontman των JUDAS PRIEST, Rob Halford, αν αυτός και οι συμπαίκτες του θα σκεφτόντουσαν ποτέ να κάνουν ένα "sequel" στο κλασικό άλμπουμ του 1990 " Painkiller".
